Jiva Ayurveda
"The Jiva Group was founded 30 years ago by the founders who truly believed that Ayurveda could bring health, happiness and well-being to everyone around the world. The founders' high level of professionalism and openness to modern technology has over the years helped to make Ayurveda more universal and accessible to many people.
Ayurvedic practitioners Shri Rishipal Chauhan, Satyanarayan Dasa Ji and Partap Chauhan were broad-minded and convinced that the ancient science of the East, with its centuries of proven effective healing methods, could be successfully combined with modern Western technological know-how. Their knowledge and their desire to make people around the world healthier and happier was the basis for the founding of the Jiva Group in 1992.
"My dream is to see Ayurveda in every home," said Dr Partap Chauhan, founder of Jiva Group.
Driven by the desire and opportunity to gradually heal the world through Ayurveda, Dr Partap Chauhan began his journey on this mission in 1992 in a simple and humble clinic in his home, where a few chairs along the wall served as a waiting room. Gradually, his ability to heal people became widely known in his hometown and the surrounding areas, and he hired assistant chauffeurs to cater to the increased and steady flow of patients. And today, more than 500 of Dr Chauhan's trained doctors consult 8,000 patients every day at 80 Jiva clinics and medical centres around the world.
In the late 1980s, Ayurveda and yoga were actively promoted in the West, leading to a commercial approach to these subjects everywhere, including India, but unfortunately rarely having anything to do with the authentic knowledge imparted by the ancient vaidyas. Dr Chauhan wanted to change this situation and introduce the world to the efficacy and benefits of authentic Ayurveda. He developed the AyuniqueTM treatment protocol based solely on classical authentic sources written by the pioneers of Ayurveda - Charak, Sushruta and Vagbhatta.
Dr. Chauhan firmly believed that modern technology is not a hindrance, but on the contrary a great tool to bring Ayurveda to the common man. He had a special attitude towards any classical methodology and wanted to expose the world to the possibilities of Ayurveda. He started his career in television with the popular Jiva Health programme, which is probably the longest running Ayurvedic health programme on television. Millions of viewers in India have watched the show and have had the opportunity to tell Dr Chauhan about their health problems or to attend an appointment at one of his centres (read more about the show here).
There was a period in India when many people forgot the ancient way of natural healing and turned to western synthetic medicines. Dr Chauhan wanted to change this and wanted people to start believing in Ayurveda again and to use it at a more modern level. So when he started working in the clinic, he took the time to educate people by talking to them, understanding their problems and helping them to make better decisions about their health. This role soon expanded to a huge scale, with the launch of a television programme where, for the first time, people were able to call him directly and talk to him about their health problems. Dr Partap Chauhan's television programmes have played an important role in educating the public on how to live and maintain a healthy and happy life through Ayurveda.
As Dr Chauhan's ideas to bring back Ayurveda began to work and his advice and recommendations began to heal many people in cities, towns and remote communities in India, alternative medicine practitioners in Europe and Japan joined his ideas. At the time, TeleDoc's Television Ayurveda project was recognised and awarded by the United Nations.
Subsequently, the use of the Internet has had an even more positive impact in bringing the knowledge of Ayurveda to people around the world. Jiva launched a major Ayurveda website where people could get detailed health information and book video consultations with Jiva doctors.
The most effective way to ensure the health of any country's population is to teach people how to stay healthy. Dr Chauhan has been a guest lecturer at many international universities and has written about his experiences in two popular books on healthy living and Ayurvedic beauty secrets. Since then, Dr Chauhan has travelled to 42 countries to meet with politicians, students, researchers and scientists to raise awareness of Ayurveda and, more importantly, to make Ayurveda a globally recognised health science.
Today, the Jiva Group is working on three fronts to fulfil its mission to revitalise the science of Ayurveda so that people all over the world can heal and improve.
Health
The Jiva Medical and Research Centre (JMRC) is the largest and first of its kind in the world. The Centre's aim is to combine ancient Vedic knowledge with modern technology. Jiva offers Ayurvedic treatment and medicines for all kinds of chronic and lifestyle-related diseases. In addition to medicines, the doctors provide patients with dietary and lifestyle advice to make treatment more effective.
Education
The Jiva Education and Development Centre helps many people to live a harmonious, fulfilling and healthy life. It does this by developing products and services that enable people to understand how to deal with their health and its specificities in a balanced and harmonious way. Jiva Education develops websites with accessible information, publishes textbooks and books, participates in the development of curricula for schools, teachers and parents, produces TV programmes on health and much more.
"Jiva Education is based at Jiva Public School in Faridabad. founded in 1994, the school aims to help students understand their uniqueness and individuality and find the best opportunities to realise their potential. The various practices and curricula combine the traditional spirit of India with modern science and technology to provide students with the best of the Western and Eastern worlds.
Culture
Jiva strives to preserve, develop and promote the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda. Jiva's mission is to rediscover this science of healthy living as described in the Vedas, which will eventually lead to a peaceful and harmonious society. The cultural organisation Jiva, under the leadership of Dr. Satyanarayan Das Ji, engages scientists, sociologists, historians and writers to discover, record and thoroughly research the ancient sources of Ayurveda, as well as all the traditional knowledge contained in folk literature, art, customs and rituals.
