What are the benefits of shea butter?
Shea butter is very effective in moisturising the skin and keeping it moist. It is rich in fatty acids and vitamins that nourish and protect the skin's natural barrier. Its emollient properties make shea butter an excellent choice for soothing dry and flaky skin. It helps reduce itching, redness and irritation. Shea butter has anti-inflammatory properties, which helps to relieve various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and sunburn. It can help reduce the redness, swelling and itching associated with these conditions.
How does shea butter affect your hair?
Shea butter is an excellent moisturiser for dry and damaged hair. It helps retain moisture and prevents hair from becoming dry and brittle. Regular use of shea butter makes hair softer, smoother and more manageable.
Is shea butter suitable for eczema?
Shea butter is often considered beneficial for eczema because of its moisturising and nourishing properties. Although it is not a cure for eczema, it can help to alleviate some of the symptoms and provide relief. Shea butter contains compounds with anti-inflammatory properties such as cinnamic acid. These compounds can help reduce inflammation and soothe irritated skin, which is a common symptom of eczema.
Is shea butter safe for sensitive skin?
Shea butter is generally considered safe for sensitive skin, but individual reactions may vary. Many people with sensitive skin find shea butter to be gentle and non-irritating, making it a popular choice for natural skin care. It does not contain many harsh chemicals and additives that can cause sensitivity reactions in some people. However, it is important to note that some people may still be sensitive or allergic to shea butter, so it is always recommended to perform a patch test before applying it to larger areas of skin.
Can shea butter be used on the face?
Yes, shea butter can be used on the face. In fact, many people include shea butter in their facial skin care routines because of its moisturising and nourishing properties. Shea butter forms a protective barrier on the skin which helps to retain moisture and protect the skin from environmental influences. This barrier can be particularly useful for people with dry or sensitive skin, as it protects against harsh weather conditions or pollution.
