The main strength of Vatika Argan Shampoo is the unique properties of argan, which moisturises and softens hair. In Morocco, where argan is extracted, it is known as "liquid gold" and is an extremely rare ingredient. Argan is becoming increasingly popular in the world of hair care cosmetics for its ability to gently moisturise, nourish and soften dry, stiff and unruly hair.

The argan tree is up to 15 metres tall, 150-300 years old and grows only in western Morocco and the Atlas Mountains. Each fleshy fruit of the argan tree contains 2-3 kernels. One mature tree bears 6-8 kg of fruit. The fruit is harvested by hand, which is time-consuming and difficult as the argan tree has long and sharp spines. This explains the high price of argan oil worldwide. A small amount of oil requires a large amount of raw material: 100 kg of fruit yields about 5 kg of seeds, which can be used to extract about 1-2 litres of oil. To extract the edible oil, the seeds are lightly roasted to give the picked argan kernels their characteristic nutty aroma. Cosmetic argan oil is also prepared, but without roasting the seeds. It is produced by cold pressing.
